Crochet a Heart Granny Square

Crochet a Heart Granny Square – Perfect for Beginners!

Share the love with this beautiful 6-inch Heart Granny Square pattern.
Whether you’re brand new to crochet or looking for a quick, charming project, this pattern is a perfect choice. It’s simple, sweet, and a fantastic way to start your first blanket.

This pattern uses a combination of basic stitches: single crochet, half double crochet, double crochet, and treble crochet. If you’re unfamiliar with any of these, don’t worry—our Crochet Video Series on YouTube covers each stitch in detail.

To keep things beginner-friendly, we’ve avoided using abbreviations. However, do note that all terms are in US crochet terminology.

Project Details

  • Finished Size: 6 x 6 inches (15 x 15 cm)

  • Estimated Time: About 30 minutes per square

Important Notes

  • Pattern uses US terms

  • A shell = 3 double crochet stitches in the same space

  • Advanced option: You can use a magic ring instead of chaining 5 to begin

  • “Back loops only” (BLO) means inserting your hook into the back of the V in the stitch — we’ve linked a helpful video tutorial in case you’re unsure

  • Want to join your squares? We also have a step-by-step video tutorial for that
