Materials Needed

  • 7 skeins of Blue Sky Alpacas Organic Cotton (150 yards/100 g) in Bone (80)

  • I hook (or size needed to match gauge)

  • 5 yards of ½-inch-wide silk ribbon in chocolate brown

Gauge

  • 12 stitches and 13 rows = 4 inches in single crochet

Pattern Instructions

Main Blanket

  1. Chain 91.

  2. Foundation Row (Right Side): Work 2 sc in the 3rd chain from the hook. (Skip 1 chain, 2 sc in the next chain) across to the end; turn. (90 stitches)

  3. Row 2: Chain 1, skip the first sc, 2 sc in the next sc. (Skip 1 sc, 2 sc in the next sc) across to the end; turn. (90 stitches)

  4. Repeat Row 2 until the blanket measures 30 inches from the bottom.

Edging

  1. Round 1:

    • Chain 1, sc in each sc across to the end of the row.

    • Work 2 additional sc in the last stitch (corner turned).

    • Work 88 sc evenly along the left edge.

    • 3 sc in the first chain of the foundation row (corner turned).

    • Sc across the bottom loops of each chain.

    • Work 2 additional sc in the last loop (corner turned).

    • Work 88 sc evenly across the right edge.

    • Join with a slip stitch to the first sc of the round. (348 stitches total: 88 per side, with 3 in each corner)

  2. Round 2:

    • Chain 4 (counts as 1 dc + 1 ch). (Skip 1 sc, dc in the next sc, ch 1) across to the corner.

    • In the corner stitch: (Dc, ch 1) two more times (corner turned).

    • Repeat this pattern around all four sides. In the last corner, work (dc, ch 1) only once.

    • Join with a slip stitch to the 3rd chain of the beginning ch-4.

  3. Round 3:

    • (Skip ch-1 space, work 5 dc in the next dc, skip ch-1 space, slip stitch in the next dc) around the entire edge.

    • Fasten off.

Final Touches

  • Weave the ribbon through the double crochets and tie it into a bow at the corner.
