Looking for a unique handmade gift for any day, really? This adorable crochet heart is quick, sweet, and perfect for showing someone you care. It’s also a fun way to use up colorful yarn scraps!
🧶 Materials
-
Yarn: I used Sugar ‘n Cream cotton yarn in various colors (fun fact: all but one of them has “hot” in the name!)
-
Hook: Size H (5.0 mm)
✨ Pattern Notes
-
This pattern hasn’t been formally tested.
-
It assumes a basic understanding of crochet (I’d rate it suitable for advanced beginners).
-
You’ll be working in rounds, starting from the center like a granny square and building out.
💕 Crochet Heart Pattern
Round 1 – Hot Pink
-
Chain 4 and join to form a ring.
-
Work like a traditional granny square:
-
Chain 2, 2 double crochet (dc), chain 2, 3 dc
-
Repeat from * to * three more times (you’ll end up with four clusters of 3 dc separated by ch-2 spaces)
-
Join with a slip stitch to the top of the starting chain.
-
Round 2 – Beach Glass
-
In each corner space: 3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc
-
Chain 1 between each corner group.
Round 3 – Hot Purple
-
Slip stitch to a corner space to begin.
-
In each ch-1 space from Round 2: work 10 triple crochets (tr).
-
Slip stitch into the next corner space, and repeat 10 tr in the next ch-1 space.
-
These create the top curves of the heart.
Round 4 – Hot Blue
-
Work single crochets (sc) all the way around the heart.
-
At the bottom point of the heart, chain 2.
-
On the purple sections, sc into each tr, chaining 1 between each stitch for added shaping.
-
Round 5 – Hot Orange
-
Slip stitch around the entire heart, working only in the back loops of the blue round.
-
Don’t forget to chain 2 again at the point for definition.
-
