Granny & V-Stitch Combo – Written Pattern

Hook Size: Choose a size that suits your yarn.
Yarn Used in Sample:
I used Stylecraft Special DK with a 4mm hook in these colors:
Wisteria, Clematis, Candy Floss, Apricot, Lemon, Spring Green, Sherbet, and White.
Abbreviations:

Ch – Chain
-
SC – Single Crochet
-
DC – Double Crochet
-
Rep – Repeat
-
St – Stitch
Special Stitches:
-
V-Stitch (V-St): (DC, Ch 1, DC) in the same stitch or space

Stacked DC: SC, then SC into the front bar of the SC just made (acts as a straight-edged DC)
-
Granny Stitch: 3 DC in the same stitch or space
Pattern Instructions:
Foundation Row:
Chain a multiple of 3 + 1 to reach your desired width.
Row 1:
DC in the 4th chain from the hook.
Skip 2 chains, 3 DC in the next chain.
Repeat from * to * until the last 3 chains.
Skip 2 chains, 2 DC in the last chain.
(Change color here if you’re alternating.)
Row 2:
Turn your work. Make a Stacked DC in the first stitch, then DC in the same stitch.
Skip 2 stitches, V-Stitch in the next.
Repeat from * to * until the last 3 stitches.
Skip 2 stitches, 2 DC in the last stitch.
(Change color here if you’re alternating.)
Row 3:
Turn your work. Make a Stacked DC in the first stitch, then DC in the same stitch.
Skip 2 stitches, 3 DC in the chain-1 space of the V-Stitch from the previous row.
Repeat from * to * until the last 3 stitches.
Skip 2 stitches, 2 DC in the last stitch.
(Change color here if you’re alternating.)
Repeat Rows 2 and 3 until your project reaches the desired length.
For a clean edge, I recommend finishing on a Row 3 repeat.
Fasten off, leaving a long tail, and weave in all ends.
