What Exactly Is a Crochet Coin Purse?

A crochet coin purse is a small, hand-crafted pouch designed to hold coins and other tiny treasures. Depending on your style and skill level, it can be as simple or as detailed as you like. It’s a great project for beginners looking to practice, or for experienced crocheters who want a quick, creative break.

Base and Body

Foundation Chain:
Begin with a chain of 21.

Round 1:
Make a single crochet (sc) into the second chain from your hook. Continue with one sc in each chain until you reach the last one. In that last chain, work 3 single crochets to help round the corner. Now crochet along the opposite side of the chain, placing one sc in each stitch. In the starting chain, make 2 sc. Join the round with a slip stitch (sl st) into the first sc.

Rounds 2–15:
Chain 1. Work one sc in each stitch around. At the end of each round, join with a sl st to the first sc. You can change colors every few rounds to add fun stripes!

Top Edge

Rounds 16–20:
Chain 1. Continue making one sc in each stitch around. Join each round with a sl st. Keep going until your work reaches the height of your coin purse frame. Finish off by cutting the yarn and weaving in the ends.
